Install TikTok Events API

Prerequisites

• Access to your

  TikTok Ads Manager account

• A TikTok Pixel already created (Pixel ID) by following

  this guide

• A Google Tag Manager server container deployed (with a web container on your site)
• TAGGRS account and server-side tracking enabled
• TikTok Events API Access Token

Generate TikTok Events API Access Token

1. Log in to TikTok Ads Manager.
2. Go to Assets → Events → Web Events.
3. Select your TikTok Pixel.
4. Go to Settings and scroll to Access Token Generation.
5. Click Generate Access Token and copy it for later use

Retrieve your TikTok Pixel ID

In TikTok Ads Manager, under Events → Web Events, select your Pixel and copy the Pixel ID from the settings

Go to your GTM server container

Log in to your GTM account and open your server container.

Add the TikTok Events API tag

1. In your server container, go to Tags and click New.
2. Click Tag Configuration and select TikTok Events API (Official) from the Community Template Gallery.
3. Enter your Access Token and Pixel ID in the tag configuration.
4. (Optional) Enter a Test Event Code for debugging (remove before publishing live).
5. Map event parameters and user data as needed (e.g., event name, value, currency, user identifiers). For e-commerce, map GA4 events like purchase, add_to_cart, etc.

Configure tag triggering

1. Set the trigger to fire the TikTok Events API tag on the relevant server-side events (typically mapped from GA4 or custom events pushed from your web container).
2. Use a GA4 Client Trigger or a custom trigger, depending on your data flow.

Ensure event deduplication

You can configure deduplication following this guide.

Test and publish

1. Use GTM Preview mode and TikTok’s Test Events tool to verify that events are being sent and received correctly.
2. Check TikTok Events Manager for incoming server-side events and confirm deduplication.
3. Once verified, publish your GTM server container.
