Migrate from hosting to TAGGRS

This guide is designed for developers migrating their Server-side Tracking (SST) hosting to TAGGRS. Follow these steps to ensure a seamless transition and maintain data integrity throughout the process.

Overview

Switching your hosting to TAGGRS involves 4 steps:

1. Create a TAGGRS account
2. Create a product
3. Configure your DNS
4. Update the subdomain in GTM

The following sections give you more detail about each step.

1. Create a TAGGRS account

First, create an account on TAGGRS. You can start from here.

2. Create a product

1.
Create a product in TAGGRS. Choose manual setup.

2.
Fill in the product setup details. You can reuse the container configuration code from your current server container. This code can be found in your server container settings in Google Tag Manager.

3. Configure your DNS

Once your product is created, you’ll need to configure your DNS.

You can either keep your existing subdomain or create a new one.

Important
You must reconfigure your subdomain, just like you did with your previous hosting provider.

• Keeping your existing subdomain:
Update the DNS records (note: change AAAA records to A records).
• Using a new subdomain:
Add new DNS records.

By updating your DNS records, you ensure that the data flows through TAGGRS instead of your previous provider.
‍
These DNS records can be found in your TAGGRS dashboard.
‍
• If you’re keeping your existing subdomain, your migration is now complete.
• If you’ve created a new subdomain, continue to the next step.

4. Update the subdomain in Google Tag Manager (if needed)

Created a new subdomain? Then you’ll need to update the configuration inside Google Tag Manager.

Replace the old subdomain with the new one in the following places:

• Client side: GA4 Configuration Tag
• Server side: Container Settings
• Any other locations where your old subdomain was used.
